National Action Plan for Sustainable Development

The Prime Minister has issued Decision No. 622/QĐ-TTg on the National Action Plan to implement the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development.

Accordingly, the Plan has set out 17 specific goals.

These include: (1) Ensure access to water and sanitation for all; (2) Take urgent action to combat climate change and its impacts; (3) Conserve and sustainably use the oceans, seas and marine resources; (4) Sustainably manage forests, combat desertification, halt and reverse land degradation, halt biodiversity loss; (5) Make cities inclusive, safe, resilient and sustainable; (6) Ensure access to affordable, reliable, sustainable and modern energy for all; (7) End hunger, achieve food security and improved nutrition and promote sustainable agriculture; (8) End poverty in all its forms everywhere; (9) Ensure healthy lives and promote well-being for all at all ages; (10) Ensure inclusive and quality education for all and promote lifelong learning; (11) Achieve gender equality and empower all women and girls; (12) Promote inclusive and sustainable economic growth, employment and decent work for all; (13) Build resilient infrastructure, promote sustainable industrialization and foster innovation; (14) Reduce inequality within and among countries; (15) Ensure sustainable consumption and production patterns; (16) Promote just, peaceful and inclusive societies; (17) Revitalize the global partnership for sustainable development.

To achieve the above goals, the Plan also sets out some key tasks such as: In the period of 2017 – 2020, the institutional system of sustainable development will be improved; in 2018, the development of action plans of ministries, sectors, localities, agencies and organizations must be completed; specific programs, projects and tasks will be developed to achieve Vietnam’s sustainable development goals by 2030.

At the same time, implementation of communication and education activities aims to raise the awareness of the whole society on sustainable development goals, especially high quality human resources for the cause of national development according to sustainable development goals in all fields, etc.
